Christmas Show, Dec. 15
The author-host’s reading of an original short story, “A Visit from Auntie Thresa Claus,” opens the Christmas program with a story where a family’s Christmas is threatened by Santa’s not-so-nice sister, but is saved by the unselfish act of a young girl. Continuing the Holiday theme, Hovey Smith relates his having a Christmas dinner in a tin shed at 20-below zero near at Copper Center, Alaska, in “Christmas at Copper River.”
This week’s cooking section features turkeys and other large fowl with the description of cooking the Idaho turkey whose taking was described in last week’s show and concludes with a hunting story featuring the North Carolina swan that will be cooked for this year’s Christmas dinner.
Ads in this week’s program include those from the Harness Division of Velcro Wall, The leader in child suspension systems; SIN, Inc., Synthetic Industrial Non-Nutritives, Inc.; and the Resolution Bank of Hopeful, Arizona, The place to bank your new year’s resolution bond money.
Supplemental materials related to this show include turkey cooking instructions in Backyard Deer Hunting: Converting deer to dinner for pennies per pound.
